Self-portrait (Countdown)

The device is constructed to scuff; the cogwheels made frow sandstone are subject to regular wear and tear. Through friction between both sandstones, the system uses itself up and, in the course of its operation, produces sand and dust. Based on the imagery of an hourglass, the falling particles become the self-initiated countdown of the machine's shakedown, all the way to its own wastage.

Der Motor treibt über ein Zahnrad aus Sandstein ein weiteres, ebenso großes Zahnrad aus Sandstein an. Aufgrund der Reibung zwischen den Zahnrädern entsteht Abrieb: Im Laufe der Zeit rieselt Sand, schwebt Staub zu Boden. 

Un moteur fait tourner une roue dentée en grès à travers une autre roue dentée identique. A cause du frottement entres les pignons, les crans s’abrasent et passent de pierre en sable. En ruisselant à terre, l’objet se disperse dans l’espace;l’installation se rapproche de la fin de son fonctionnement.
